The batch before this one did their last bit online. The batch after this one met once in-person for the experiential sessions. But this class of 2020-21 got sandwiched between the 2 lock downs and were our test tube babies – nothing short of a miracle. They truly tested the concept of virtual reality – learning, interning, supervising and presenting to teachers, therapists and co-trainees from across the screen. And graduating.
While having a blast.
While holding space for those who could not make it.
While making the most of what was on offer.
While doing the work with sincerity and ethics.
While the world was sometimes ON and most times OFF.
Here is the graduating FECAT class of 2020-21.
Sohini speaks about Kolkatta Samved model – Sampoornata. It is one of the first of its kind, culturally contextualized, Indianised Dance Movement Therapy Model.
She applauds the students for successfully completing the training during the pandemic and welcomes them to the community.
Sohini urges the students to becoming ambassadors for expressive art therapies and take the learning to different sectors such as health, education, social development, gender and the larger civil society members. She encourages students to consider their work on well-being rather than the clinical outcome so as to see the potential of dance and art in a broader context.
