Yesterday I had the opportunity to facilitate a Circle of Resilience for a lovely group of artists. This image is my aesthetic/felt sense response to the circle. So much of what we explored is here – the Divine Feminine, the individual and the collective, the concentric circles of holding spiralling deeper inwards and outwards, the little me and the larger, more expansive me, love and eros as new frameworks within which we create…
Yesterday was also Mother’s Day. My first lasting experience of unconditional love. My mother has constantly demonstrated that love is all that matters, and we were taught to prioritise love over money, over success, over societal values… This informs the choices I make, the work I do, the man I married, the family we create, the issues that are important to me, the lovers and friends that continue to populate my world in various forms.
When the ground beneath our feet is shaken and the world as we know it is collapsing, the opportunity is to retreat within, to wait, with all the heaviness and grief this transition brings, but also with the anticipation of hope (as one participant so beautifully put it)
The image is a painting by Maria Friedman called the Trinity and is accompanied by these lines:
“Deep, deep… within the within
That is where you will find Her
Vast, vast…no beginning, no end
She is mother-daughter-grandmother.

Spiralling into Desire – Review
My first encounter with Spiralling Into Desire was its 2022 film release and screening. As an early student of Brinda and the daughter of her designer/publicist, I came in clueless, offering mere moral support. Today, two years later, I revel in the aftertaste of her...
More than Striking a Pose
It was the summer of 2017. Five years into my Jazz dance training – a dance form that had shaped, moulded and transformed my body and the way I moved. It was an annual dance-off and I was performing a lyrical Jazz piece. Before leaping into the routine, I stood in the...
